Taking risks in fashion is part of the reason that I am always inspired and impressed with new pieces. Looking at a brand new piece and thinking how can I step out of the box, how can I make this specific piece look different on me than someone else.
Alterations have and always will be my favorite way to “change it up” making old pieces new, turning dresses in blouses, changing buttons, and removing fabric. While this is always great it is not necessarily risky enough.
Let’s take a look at the “dress” I am wearing. Truth be told, it is not meant to be a dress. This C/MEO Collective piece is actually a blazer. At first look this blazer looked like a dress, especially since blazer dresses and menswear styled pieces are quite on trend at the moment but after realizing it wasn’t I still wanted to make it one.
Now, I will admit that there are a pair of biker shorts on underneath this blazer just in case the wind caught me at the right moment. But in reality, biker shorts are on trend as well so no one would even think twice if they got a little peak of them.
I have recently been working on how to stand out, how to use what I have learned over the years to create looks that are inspiring and I always find I am personally inspired by looks that are not like the rest. What are your favorite ways to take fashion risks?
XO
