Food and the City, don’t you like the sound of that. One of the best parts about traveling to New York City besides the shopping is the food. There are so many options and every restaurant, cafe, or food truck is absolutely impeccable. I decided to narrow down my suggestions to my Top 15 must visit food establishments in the City.
Brunch
Sarabeth’s: Not only is this amazing brunch spot mentioned in Gossip Girl, it is also extremely delicious. I refuse to take a trip to New York and not stop in here for Brunch at least once.
Norma’s: Another Gossip Girl destination with fantastic food! They have crepes, pancakes, waffles, egg benedict, and more.
Jack’s Wife Freda: If you are looking for a cute spot to brunch, this is perfect. It is an all day cafe so they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day long.
The Blue Box Cafe: You can literally have Breakfast at Tiffany’s, what is better than that? Looking for more details about this fantastic brunch spot and how to score a reservation be sure to check out my blog post I wrote recently by clicking here.
Lunch
Sweetgreen: Salads, a healthy lunch option that will fill you up but is still good for you. I LOVE Sweetgreen. I could eat here every single day if it were possible. There are several locations throughout the city so no matter where you may be a Sweetgreen is probably close by!
Da Nico: Taking a trip to Little Italy? Then you should stop at Da Nico for lunch. The Fettuccine Alfredo is the best I have ever had and the pizza is perfect.
Rockefeller Center: Looking for a quick bite to eat while your feet take a rest. Rockefeller Center is a perfect place for this. Several food options from quick options to sit down meals and all delicious!
Dinner
The Wayfarer: We LOVED this restaurant and can not wait to go back. The bread is to die for, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. It is an American Grille and it is totally worth a try!
Jade Sixty: The restaurant was very interesting, the good kind of interesting of course. The atmosphere was cool and the service was impeccable. It is an Asian Steakhouse which is essentially an Asian restaurant and Steakhouse combined. Get the Jade Chicken…you will not be disappointed!
Porter House: My all time favorite. It is a steakhouse and it is fantastic. It is located in Columbus Circle and we do not visit NYC without making a stop here. All of the steaks are divine, the Buttery Mashed Yukon Golds are delicious, and the chocolate layer cake is heavenly.
Del Frisco’s Grille: It was later at night, we had no reservations anywhere and were starving, we were near Rockefeller Center and found this amazing place. Let me just tell you that if you do not get the Lollipop Chicken Wings and the Hand-Cut Parmesan Frites you are seriously missing out! Fantastic restaurant!
Empire Steak House: The very first nice restaurant Jmo and I visited when we traveled to New York City! It is your typical steakhouse and it is fantastic! They have cocktail shrimp and mashed potatoes…so of course I love it!
Sweet Treats
Laduree: Macarons are the best treat you could ever hope for, especially when they are from Laduree. Hoping to someday visit the original Laduree in Paris but for now I will continue to settle for the NYC locations! I suggest the Lemon Macaron, its my favorite!
Do Cookie Dough: Edible Cookie Dough…do I need to say more? On occasion there will be a line outside but it goes really fast. They know how to get people in and out, which is great especially if it is either crazy hot outside or freezing!
Magnolia Bakery: Banana Pudding. End of Story. They actually have tons of other bakery items but my all time favorite is the banana pudding! And if you are a Sex and the City fan, then you really do have to stop here!
I am a picky eater but in New York I never have a hard time finding something that I love. While I have narrowed it down to 15 places, there really are so many more.
In my opinion the best way to find a new location is to use Open Table. Every time we visit New York we use Open Table to find restaurants closest to us. Not only will you find the restaurants but you can also make a reservation which is needed in New York, especially at Dinner.
Let me know what your favorite New York City restaurants are down below!
