“Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose.”
– Lauren Hutton
Welcome back to a new year and a possible new way of thinking, or not. I have always been a big proponent of versatile fashion. There is something so inspiring about taking a simple piece that can transform into an entirely different ensemble each time its worn.
I figured the best way to start off the new year was to take a mini dress (big trend for Spring/Summer 2020) and style it multiple ways. Showing you versatility and in turn a little bit of sustainability.
90s Fashion
Since I only lived a few years in the 90s and was not quite knowledgeable in my personal style yet, I greatly appreciate the return of 90s comfortable fashion. In order to make this otherwise “cocktail” dress 90s inspired I simply added a black bodysuit underneath and sneakers.
Winter Fashion
Whoever invented tights was honestly quite intelligent. The ability to turn a mini dress into a piece that can be worn throughout the winter is genius. Add your favorite boots and leather jacket and you have easily winterized this look.
Springtime Vibes
Keeping it simple with the addition of heels and pearl hair accessories, one of the most worn trends in 2019 (and is sticking around for a bit). Simple, easy, and perfect for a resort vacation or whatever your plans involve this Spring.
Something I have been thinking about over the past couple of months is what I want my readers to get out of kmoandjmo.com, I never want you to think that you must purchase the exact pieces I am wearing. My goal is to inspire, help you learn about trends, classic wardrobe staples, and help you cultivate your own style with a few fun ideas here and there.
Obviously, when you see something you like head to toe it is quite simple to just purchase the whole look, which is why I link the pieces I am wearing so it is easy to shop. I personally do this often when I am perusing some of my favorite influencers but I find it even more fun to take inspiration from what they are wearing/talking about and make it my own.
This is probably one of the biggest reasons I preach versatility. I want you to realize that adding different accessories or pieces to a look can completely alter the style, making it you. Show your personality through what you wear, it is a great way to speak without saying a word.
