Since I have only had my blog for a short time, there has not been a chance for you all to get to know me well. I figured a quick and easy way to help give an insight into the things I like would be to share my favorites of 2017!
Beauty
Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation: I have honestly never loved a foundation more. I always struggle finding foundation that works for my skin but this one has just been perfect. It was my wedding day foundation and my go-to when I need something to work flawlessly.
Fenty Beauty Foundation: This is going to be my summertime foundation. Since it is a very matte foundation it has not been my friend with my extra dry skin. But it is fantastic for when my skin is oily, which it typically is during warmer months.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer: All time favorite bronzer, the pigment is great, it lasts all day long, and it goes on extremely well. I rarely use another bronzer anymore.
Mac Lipstick Velvet Teddy: As far as lipsticks go, this is definitely the one I use the most often. And it is always the one that everyone wants to borrow. It is the perfect nude, I will wear it day or night and it works with so many different looks.
Eyelash Extensions: One of my best beauty decisions I have ever made. I never have to wear mascara (except on my bottom lashes), I never have to wear false lashes, and I always love how they look in photographs. I get mine done at Amazing Lash Studio in Huntsville and it is some of the best money that I spend.
DryBar The Wrap Party: In early September I fell in love with this curling wand. I went and got a blow out at DryBar when in NYC for my birthday and they used this on my hair and it turned out so well that I had to get it for myself. I do not see myself using a different curling wand anytime soon.
Skincare
Caudalie Overnight Detox Night Oil: I love a good night serum/oil/cream, and this one from Caudalie is perfect. It is hydrating and I really do feel like it has made a difference in the appearance of my skin.
First Aid Beauty Ultimate Repair Cream: When your skin is dry, this can be your best friend. It was the moisturizer that I used on wedding day and it was perfect. I am currently out and really need to head over to Sephora and get some more soon!
Caudalie Instant Detox Mask: One of my favorite masks, I have used a lot of different face masks over the years and this has become a constant in my routine. It seems to work really well and I can tell a difference in my skin almost instantly.
Fashion
Coats: 2017 was the year of coats for me. I did not find a coat I did not love. J Crew has always been a great place to find coats that fit well. And this year I found two great ones. There was my camel colored one, and then the adorable mint green coat. And we can not forget the Audrey inspired blue coat I got from Elitaire which I featured in my A Black Dress blog post. I am simply in love with coats. And I have a new love a leather jackets too.
Distressed Jeans: A quality pair of distressed jeans is everything to me. They are comfortable, flattering, and can really make a look complete. Some of my favorites are from Lucky Brand and Topshop.
Blush Everything: When your wedding colors invade your entire life you know you picked the right color. Millennial pink has been my go to for everything from pillows, blankets, sweaters, and more. I just can not get enough of this color. I also have a feeling I will slowly but surely be bringing this color into the new year!
Over the knee boots: My over the knee boots were purchased in 2016, but I really fell in love with them in 2017. They seem to go with everything. Pairing mine with skirts or dresses is my favorite way to wear them but they are adorable paired with jeans.
Gucci: All day, everyday, Gucci has been my guilty pleasure of 2017. My first item I purchased from Gucci was my Gucci belt. I searched high and low for this belt and finally ended up finding it months after I first set my eyes on it. After that it seemed anything Gucci I was in love with. I will be bringing this love into the new year for sure.
Elitaire Boutique: Not only has this become one of my favorite boutiques but I have also gotten the opportunity to work here as well. In Huntsville there is just not a lot of choices when it comes to shopping. So, with Elitaire having brands that are all new to Huntsville it makes it so exciting to shop. There are brands such as Cupcakes and Cashmere, Frnch, Bishop + Young, and more. It is also total French girl vibes which I absolutely LOVE!
TV
Sex and the City: I started and finished this series in 2016, but carried over my love for it to 2017. I have rewatched this show too many times to count at this point. But who does not just love Carrie and Mr. Big?
Gossip Girl: If you need to know anything about me, know that I LOVE Gossip Girl. I got engaged at the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park simply because (SPOILER ALERT) Chuck and Blair get married there. I have stayed at the New York Palace Hotel and Empire Hotel because they are in Gossip Girl. My favorite brunch spot is Sarabeth’s. And I have too many pictures on the steps of the Met. My favorite episodes include Season 2 Episode 25, Season 3 Episode 1, and Season 6 Episode 10!
Game of Thrones: How can you not love Game of Thrones? Typically not a show that I would think I would enjoy. But after getting hooked after only two episodes, I now love all things Game of Thrones. Thankful for 2017 and the season it brought us and look forward to 2019 when we get to see what happens next.
Bob’s Burgers: I know, this seems weird. But out of all the adult cartoons, this is one I can truly get behind. It is genuinely funny, even if you have seen the same episode 5 times. This is also a show that Jmo will watch with me which is nice considering most movies and TV shows that I like he thinks are the actual worst.
Movies
Sex and the City The Movie: Are you surprised? The shoes, the love, the fashion. This movie has it all. For me I either really love and am fully invested in a movie or I hate it. I fully love and am completely invested in this movie. It is one of my all time favorites that I can watch over and over again.
Fifty Shades Darker: Speaking of movies I have seen one too many times. I know, this movie got a 10% on rotten tomatoes but I really love it and the critics are wrong (at least in my eyes). Obviously this movie is not for everyone but I truly believe if you open your eyes and really watch the movie and listen to the story line and the love story behind it, it is fantastic. And yes, I am counting down the days until Fifty Shades Freed, and I do already have tickets.
Funny Face: This is a new favorite for me. I recently watched this movie for the first time and fell in love. It has Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire, so really what more do you want in a classic movie? The music, the scenery, and the people are perfection. If you have not seen this movie, I highly recommend!
Breakfast at Tiffany’s: Once again, are we surprised? An Audrey movie, in New York City, and it starts at Tiffany’s, is anything better than that? I would have to say no. And the music, is fantastic. Another movie I highly recommend watching!
I firmly believe that your favorites can give an insight into who you are. My 2017 favorites are here to give you all a small insight into the person I was in 2017. And while favorites can be ever changing many of these will be moving into the new year with me. I am always up for suggestions, so if you think each month of 2018 I should keep you updated with my favorites then let me know!
XO,
Katelyn Moshier
