Money can be such an odd gift to give at Christmas. Many feel that giving money is not as sentimental or exciting as giving something more tangible. Although on the other hand, many teens and young adults much prefer money so they can spend it however they like. I know I always asked for money growing up because I liked to save up all my Christmas money and go on a little shopping spree. So to me, money was the best gift there could be.
In order to make giving money a more fun gift, I rounded up several creative money giving ideas below. Each of them are simple and easy and can be completed in less than 10 minutes. So not only are they fun ways to give money, they are great last minute gift ideas!
Candy & Money
I love this idea, not only are you giving money but also some fun holiday candy, and you really can not go wrong with candy!
What you will need:
- Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark
- Hersey’s Chocolate Santa
- Ribbon
- Gift Tag
- Money
Simply stack the chocolate Santas on top of the peppermint bark, wrap the money around and tie it together with a ribbon and a gift tag.
Full of Doh
I saw a picture of this on Pinterest and thought it was adorable. It can be a fun little trick to play as well, making the recipient think the only thing they received was a container of Play-Doh.
Items Needed:
- Play-Doh
- A Ziploc Bag
- Ribbon
- Money
Place the money in a ziploc bag in order to protect it from the Play-Doh. Slide it in on the side or even take the Play-Doh out and place it underneath. Close the lid and tie a ribbon around the Play-Doh container and your gift is complete!
In Case of Emergency
This is such a fun way to give money, could be a little messy for the recipient, but defiantly fun.
You will need:
- A picture frame
- Sticker letters
- Money
- Ribbon
- Gift Tag
Simply tape the money inside of the picture frame. Once the money is in place inside, add the words to the outside with the sticker letters. There are many other fun sayings that could be placed on the outside instead of “In case of emergency break glass” I just found that one to be the funniest. Wrap you ribbon around the frame and add a gift tag and the gift is ready!
Merry & Bright Christmas
I love the idea of wishing someone a Merry & Bright Christmas using a light bulb. It is such a fun play on words and another easy and fun way to give money.
Needed:
- A light bulb
- Money
- Tape
- Ribbon
- Gift Tag
First, roll up the money into a small cylinder. Tape the light bulb and money side by side on the gift tag. In order to make all items secure, wrap the ribbon around the items multiple times. Now your recipient will have a Merry & Bright Christmas!
A Jar of Goodies
This Jar of Goodies is one of the easiest gifts to put together.
You will need:
- Bag of Holiday Hersey’s Kisses
- Mason Jar
- Money
- Ribbon
- Gift Tag
- Foil Tape
I decided that the mason jar was a little too boring for my taste so I add some foil tape around the jar to give a more festive look. Next I rolled the money into cylinders, this step is not necessary as you can simply just place the money in the jar. I added the money and the Hersey kisses to the mason jar, tied it off with ribbon and a gift tag and the gift was complete!
A Money Ornament
If I had to pick one that gave me the most trouble, it would have to be the ornament. I might have broken a few in the process. Thankfully I got a box of 9 so I had plenty to work with.
Items needed:
- Clear ornaments
- Money
- Ribbon
- Gift Tag
Honestly, if you are careful and do not drop the ornaments this gift is quite simple. Roll the money into cylinders, open up the ornaments, and place the money inside. The amount of ornaments that you tie together is up to you, I chose to do 4. I simply strung the ornaments on the ribbon and added a fun and sparkly gift tag!
Book of Surprises
This one might be my favorite. Not only is this the world’s cutest book, I think this is such a unique way to give money as a gift!
What you will need:
- A book
- $1 Bill
- Money
- Tape
- Ribbon
- Gift Tag
I thought it would be fun for this gift idea to be another trick. Tape the $1 close to the front of the book, making the recipient think that is all they received. Then near the end of the book tape in the rest of the money. Close the book, wrap it with a ribbon and place a gift tag on it! Gift complete!
Crayons for Christmas
Everyone can use some crayons for Christmas. Especially crayons wrapped with money!
Items needed:
- Pack of Crayons
- Money (I recommend using smaller bills so you can wrap all the crayons)
- Ribbon
- Gift Tag
How awesome of a surprise would it be to open up a box of crayons wrapped in money. In order to make this happen, wrap the crayons individually and place them back into the box. Once the crayons were wrapped in money I was only able to fit 7/8 crayons back into the box. Wrap the box up with the some ribbon and a gift tag and it is good to go!
Christmas is coming so quickly, there are very few days left! I hope you all find these ideas helpful and fun! Make sure to try them out for yourself whether it be for Christmas, Birthdays, Valentine’s Day, or whatever holiday you choose to give gifts!
