Halloween Night In

Sometimes going out on Halloween night just is not a option. Whether it is because it falls on a week day or because you simply just do not have the desire to dress up.  It happens.  But on occasion you still want to celebrate a little bit.  So I have come up with my ideal Halloween night in.

Make Some Spooky Treats

I was watching YouTube videos, which is a normal daily activity and I came across several where they were making Halloween treats and I thought this was such a cute idea.  So I decided that I wanted to give it a try.  I took to Pinterest and found 4 different Halloween inspired treats that are simple and easy to make.  And perfect for our Halloween night in.

Monster Rice Krispies Treats

These Monster Rice Krispies treats that I found looked adorable and seemed super easy to make.

All you need is:

  • 6 cups of Rice Krispies
  • A bag of Marshmallows
  • Candy Melts in various colors
  • Candy Eye Balls

You simply make Rice Krispies like normal.  After they have cooled just add some melted Candy Melts to the top portion of each individual Rice Krispies treat, pop on some candy eyes and you are good to go! If you can not seem to find Candy Melts then you can use melted white chocolate and food coloring to get the same effect.

I have the recipe from Pinterest linked here in case you want a step by step guide on how to make these monster treats.

Halloween Puppy Chow

I would have to say that this is my favorite.  I typically only make Puppy Chow near the Christmas holiday because for some reason it reminds me of winter.  But when I found this recipe on Pinterest I figured it was a good excuse to make it a little earlier this year.

If you have never made puppy chow or muddy buddies whatever you call it, then you are seriously missing out.  Not only is it one of the easiest treats to make, it is also such a great treat to snack on.

All you need is:

  • 9 cups Rice Chex
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • Candy Corn
  • Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Cups
  • Reese’s Pieces

It will only take you about 5-10 minutes to make this delicious treat.  Simply measure out the cereal and set it aside.  Then, in a microwavable bowl melt together the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter for 45 seconds.  Take it out of the microwave, mix it up, add the vanilla and place it back in the microwave for 30 more second or until it is smooth.  In the large bowl with the cereal add the melted mixture.  Once the cereal is fully coated place it in a gallon sized Ziploc bag, add in the powdered sugar and mix it together until every piece is coated.  Once you take it out, add in the candy corn, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and Reese’s Pieces.

Spider Cookies

Spider Cookies sound very spooky do they not? This recipe can be either hard or easy depending on how much time you would like to spend baking.  I decided to go the easy route and not make the cookie from scratch.

All you need is:

  • Nestle’s Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  • Semisweet chocolate chips
  • Candy Eyes

Going the easy route was the best option for me as I am not the world’s best baker.  To start, pop the Chocolate Chip Cookies in the oven and let them fully bake.  The second they come out of the oven add the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to each of the cookies.  While the cookies are cooling for a couple of minutes, melt the semisweet chocolate chips.  Once the chocolate is melted add it to a small plastic bag, cut off a tiny corner of the plastic bag and add the 8 legs to the spider.  Pop on some candy eyes and your spiders are ready for Halloween.

If you want to bake the cookies from scratch, follow the link here for the full recipe.

Witch’s Brew Brownies

If you know how to make brownies, then this recipe will be a no brainer.

All you need is:

  • Brownie Mix
  • M&M’s
  • Hersey’s Chocolate Bar
  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  • Candy Eyes

To make this fun concoction of Witch’s Brew Brownies, simply follow the directions on the box of Brownie Mix.  5 minutes before it is time to take the brownies out of the oven add the M&M’s, Hersey’s Chocolate Bar, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to the top of the Brownies and pop it back in the oven for the last 5 minutes.  Once you take it out, add the candy eyes and enjoy.

Watch all things Halloween

Halloween Movies

My favorite Halloween movies include Hocus Pocus, and all the Disney Halloweentown movies. that is the end of my favorite Halloween movies.  I do not enjoy anything actually scary, so scary movies are a total pass for me.  Obviously there are tons of scary movie options if you are into those though, and can be a great addition to a fun Halloween Night In.

Halloween Themed TV Show Episodes

This is a new thing that I have really enjoyed doing recently.  My husband introduced this idea to me in hopes that I would rather do this than watch Hocus Pocus.  Easily hop onto Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, whatever streaming service you have and watch all the Halloween episodes of your favorite shows.  I absolutely love this idea, and if your favorite tv show happens to have a lot of season you will likely have several Halloween episodes to watch.

Hand Out Candy

This may sound super simple and easy but handing out Halloween candy to everyone that comes to your door dressed up can be so exciting.  Take a moment to remember how excited you used to get for Halloween and help bring a little bit of joy to those that are Trick or Treating at your door.

I hope each and every one of you have a super spooky and fun Halloween, if you have decided that instead of staying home that you would like to get dressed up and go out instead be sure to check out my latest YouTube video (linked below) for some cute last minute Halloween Costume Ideas.
